DIY Valence

My boys room was looking a little dull a couple months back and decided it was in need of some cute curtains or a valence to brighten it up! I looked online and in stores and didn't find anything that I wanted so I decided to make one myself! {I must have had a good nights rest the night before}
This was very simple and I am happy with how it turned out.
I simply cut squares of fabric, sewed right sides together leaving a little gap to turn and sewed them all together. The great thing was that I could hide the gap I left in the seams- so quick and easy.
But make sure you don't forget to have the red hooks inside when you sew up your squares!!!

Rain Gutter Book Shelves

Over the Thanksgiving break while I had my husband's undivided attention-
I put him to work on a project I have been wanting to get done for a long time!!

Rain Gutter Book Shelves

My friend told me about this idea she saw over at
U create and after I saw them in her home, I knew I had to have them!!!
Someone came up with the idea to use a rain gutter as a book shelf...... genius!

This would not have been an easy project if my husband didn't do everything- but since he did- it was one of my favorites projects yet!!

My boy loves his little shelf!! It's so fun to have a place to display and store some of his books
You can find all the info and directions here

(Iowa girls, I have some left over- let me know if you want one for way cheap!)

Growth Chart

I saw this great idea here....

so I decided to try it out on my own

here are the results!!

(I started at 2 feet and will hang it that high so I could go up to 5 and a half ft instead of 4 ft)

Can't wait to get this hung in my son's room and start tracking his height!! Such a fun project

Decorating the boy's room: take 1

You should feel bad for my child.... his room at the moment is kinda boring
I mean look at this wall
so bare and plain

It has been on my TO DO LIST ever since we moved here
to get his room all cute and decorated

So here is my first attempt
this idea is probably not new to any of you
but thought I would share it anyway!!

Personalized wall hanging
This was very easy to do
You can find wooden, plastic, cardboard letters at any craft store
Take the letters you wish to use and decorate them how you want to
All you need is some wonderful Modge Podge and paper for the letters
and some ribbon to hang

(still deciding on the ribbon choice- and the borderline girlie owl paper, should I keep it??
I just loved the owls)

I was happy with how they turned out
they sure brightened up that dull and boring wall!!!
